Quarter of heatwaves this century 'virtually impossible' without climate change, study finds

Prof. Jackie Peel contributes to this ABC article by Jacinta Bowler, discussing a new study which found around a quarter of heatwaves from 2000 to 2023 would be nearly impossible without climate change, and that 180 major carbon emitters, including Chevron and BP, are collectively responsible for around 50 per cent of the increase in intensity of heatwaves in the 21st century.
